Tyree Cooper stands as an unquestionable legend and pioneer in the first Global House music revolution that ignited in Chicago. His unparalleled contributions to House Music and Acid House have solidified his status as a monumental figure within the genre. By co-creating Hip House with The DJ Fast Eddie, Cooper broadened House music’s global appeal, establishing his influence as one of the most impactful artists of the last three decades. In Chicago, he reigned supreme, DJing alongside icons such as Ron Hardy, Mike Dunn, and Gene Hunt. As the first house artist to grace Dance Party USA and a regular on stations like WGCI, B96, and Evo Sonic in Europe, Cooper’s UK Top 20 success led to a celebrated appearance on the BBC’s Top of the Pops with Kool Rock Steady.
Continuing to electrify and inspire audiences worldwide, Cooper’s performances have graced major events such as Glastonbury Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event, DJoon Paris, Babel Sao Paulo, Summer Dance Chicago, and ClockStock Festival. In collaboration with Bobby Starrr, he hosts the esteemed E-Man-Ci-Pate events at Tresor club in Berlin. Since 2021, Cooper has also captivated fans with regular live DJ sets on his Twitch channel.
Cooper’s journey began on the South Side of Chicago, where he was influenced by the likes of Farley Jackmaster Funk, The Hot Mix 5, Ron Hardy, Frankie Knuckles, and his family’s eclectic music collection. Under the guidance of Vince Lawrence of Jesse’s Gang, Cooper crafted a demo tape that launched his career with a record deal from the iconic D.J. International Records. His debut track “I Fear The Night” became an underground classic, followed by anthems like “Turn Up The Bass” and “Let the Music Take Control.” Cooper’s legacy endures with the founding of his own label, Chicago Vinyl Records, in 2013, where he continues to produce and release music on both digital and vinyl formats, steadfastly adhering to the essence of House.
